DC Shared Services Business Alliance (SSBA) is an alliance of home child care providers in the District of Columbia.  This program was developed thanks to a Shared Services Business Alliance (SSBA) grant from DC’s Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) to Infant Toddler Family Day Care (ITFDC).

Families in the District rely on small, private child development homes to provide safe, healthy, quality, and affordable child care, before and after school care, and nontraditional hour care (e.g., evenings and weekends) throughout the city.

Child care providers manage small businesses out of their homes. They educate and nurture children from infancy through their elementary school years. Many have cared for children for decades.  They are professional and experienced early childhood educators.  Yet they all agree that operating a small business takes time and energy.

Infant Toddler Family Day Care manages the DC Shared Services Business Alliance program as a grantee of DC’s Office of the State Superintendent of Education.

The DC Shared Services Business Alliance:

  • connects families in search of safe, healthy, quality, and affordable child care, before and after school care, and nontraditional hour care (e.g., evenings and weekends) with experienced and credentialed child development home providers,
  • provides administrative and business support functions to the child development home providers, to enable providers more time in their day to focus on the care and education of children, and not feel overwhelmed with operational and administrative functions,
  • has established community partnerships with Capital Quality  (Hurley & Associates), the DC Child Care Resource and Referral (Kids Comprehensive), and the Quality Improvement Network  (Mary’s Center) as part of the Shared Services Advisory Committee to extend support and resources to the DC SSBA member child development home facilities.
  • provides families with an easy-to-use search tool to find the best child care provider and the support of a team of experienced child care specialists.

Infant Toddler Family Day Care has been a trusted early child care and education resource for families in the Washington Metropolitan Area for over 35 years.  Founded in 1983 as a non-profit organization,  ITFDC operates a state licensed system of family child care homes in Virginia.  There are currently over 300 children in its program.

ITFDC has marketing expertise, workforce development assistance, accounting and bookkeeping services, effective referral and enrollment processes, and training/support services in place that will be made available to support child care homes in the DC Shared Services Business Alliance.
